best of the 50 9:00 PM

i took the day off work. i got asked by my teenage daughter to chaperon her field trip. what an honor! this is her last field trip at the sweet sweet school of SAS. SAS is the darling little sheltering second home complete with a variety of secondary parents that helped me get her to the age of 14 intact and as well as quite healthy. she is graduating and moving on to the bigger scarier world of high school!

i was excited about this field trip for many reasons. one being that maybe i could sleep in on a work day or possibly get finished early and get to have an "early release day". WRONG

we were required to be at the school at 7:30am. after much organizing, loading and unloading of bus, roll calling and last minute bathroom trips, we hit the road destined for the wild adventures amusement park! i was relieved actually, to know that we were getting such an early start so that we could get back at a decent hour. woo hooo. plenty of time for an afternoon nap. WRONG

we arrived and i asked what time we could expect to be back in tallahassee. 8pm was the answer. and i'm no genius or anything but even i was able to deduce the meaning of that! we were to be at wild adventures with 50 adolescents for approximately 7 hours! ok and that is not including any of the travel time; the 3 hours of travel time on a bus. luckily i escaped that portion of the trip and tagged along with one of the teachers and a guidance counselor, both of which shared my distaste of tight quarters with lots of loud sugar-buzzed children. we, at least, rode in peace.

my assignment was to keep track of 6 kids. 6? ok, that is alot! some people actually have 6 children and i cant even imagine how crazy, insane and ridiculously bald the parents must be! now, here i am having a little taste of parenting 6 children....wait not just 6 children! 6 adolescents!

mine were the best of the 50! they were all good friends and enjoyed doing everything together so they never split up and although we set up rendezvous points, we never had to do it. i repeatedly accidentally bumped into them and they sought me out on occasion just to hang out. i'm cool, that's right! WRONG

i made good friends with the guidance counselor and we hit the rides with flair! i ended up having a blast. roller coasters, water rides and greasy food. yum.

when i got home, i showered, laid down and slept 11 hours! no joke!
