not so humble abode...
10:17 AM
there has been much packing and loading and moving and hauling and unloading and rearranging and cleaning and and and..... julie hung curtain rods for me and i now have in my bedroom dark brown curtains...the first time in a decade at least that when the sun comes up i'm not blinded! its dark and warm and my house is quiet as opposed to the high traffic area i lived before. i sleep like a rock. since being in this space, we've built hmmm, i think 5 fires in my fire bowl. the back deck is so inviting and it gives me great satisfaction to walk around and pick up the plethora of tree limbs and sticks scattered about in my yard, to burn. i am working and cleaning and enjoying the benefits of it all at the same time! there are still many a boxes left to be unpacked. but i have a problem. this house is an older house and the hall closets smell like ass! no joke! dead animal? i dont know! ive washed them down thoroughly with antifungal, anti bacterial, heavily lemony scented stuffs and still....rank! i do NOT want to put my towels and sheets and "sentimentals" in there to get all nasty. so, the miscellaneous stuffs are still piled high in boxes, waiting to have a resting spot all their own. it was suggested i should paint to seal in any odors. have you ever painted a closet? have you ever painted a walk in closet with floor to ceiling shelves on all 4 walls? dear god in heaven, please...there has to be some other way!!! so, other than that..this house is delightful in every way! - i havent had hard wood floors in years and it gives me great pleasure to skate around in my socks. mexican tile, although lovely was never conducive to this. - i think its important enough to say this more than once...i love the silence of my house. no traffic noises (although i had learned to think of this as waves crashing on the beach shore). no more bass music blasting outta lo rida cars. no people screaming and horns honking. silence. well except for the dog next door. (there's always animal control, wink wink) - on sunday nites while sitting outside, i can hear church bells chiming in the distance. - there are so many large windows, during the day i hardly have to turn on a lite at all! - the gas heater kicks booty! i click it on and immediately i am sweating! woo! perfect for a weather wimp like myself! - there are two driveways...no "can you move your car please" allll the time. - brand new windows that open from the top and bottom. easy to slide...no elbow breaking pushing and grunting to get a crack of air. - the kids are content and pleased and overwhelmed with decoration inspiration. - sparkling shiny kitchen! filtered water in fridge door, flat top stove, timer and preheat setting on oven (not that i know how to cook, but i hear these things are good). - there is space, space to spread out. space to be alone even when other people are home. space to breathe and relax. space to have private conversations without the kids hearing. space. space. oh i love the space. i could go on but it feels like bragging and i think bragging's not healthy or good so i'll just say this one more thing... i adore my new house! 3 Comments |
