how many degrees of burnt? 8:23 AM

before the wedding on saturday, susan and i went to grayton beach and it could not have been more beautiful. the sand was white and thick and fluffy like confectioners and the water was cool enough to be refreshing but easy to submerge yourself into. and clear. the water was a crystalline blue-green, i wanted to drink it. BUT, instead....i floated in it.  salt water is like that you know, easy to float in. i love to spread out my arms and legs and lay on the surface of the water bobbing and dipping with the waves. i could meditate endlessly if i could do it this way with the sun on my body and the water tickling the edges of me.

then the bliss had  to come to an end.

and this is when i realized, i was an incompetent sunscreen applier. and now my body is spotted like a leopard. great!

and off to work we went.

but first we visited the private community pool and showers of a family member because working for 8 hours in this humid florida heat would have been unbearable with salt dusted skin and sand in the bits. i did feel slightly guilty not hopping in to say hi but i used up all the visiting time i had at the beach! i can be selfish like that!

we didnt get home until 3am and i was amped from the fast pace of driving the interstate at night with music blaring, wake up conversations dancing around in my brain and caffeine rip roaring through my blood stream. finally i was able to fall out about 4 only to have my eyes pop open at 7:30,  then again at 8:30, and finally 9:30 where i just looked around at my messy house and thought, 'get off your lazy ass and get crankin!'

i have not realllly really cleaned my house since before germany. sure sure, i'd done simple daily things but the floors? no, they  were entirely out of control. so vacuuming happened, dishes were washed, trash taken out, bedroom rearranged, blinds dusted, spanish channel watched, laundry washed, sheets changed. i was a bizzy bizzy goila!

the thing that kept my heart pumping through all of this was early on in my cleaning process i noticed a skink had snuck in through the dog door. do you know what a skink is? look, some bugs have rights and some lizards have rights.  like.....hmmm, lady bugs for example. if you see one of those, you smile and maybe pick it up. cute little green house lizards. adorable. no big deal. but a skink? i dont think so. they are really just snakes with feet! and he ran under my fridge and i could not get him out of my house. so, all day there would be these episodes of me, letting down my  guard, walking through the kitchen, coming toe to face with the bastard and all manner  of screaming and flailing and running the other way would ensue. many  times. again and again. and he would return to his safe haven under the fucking fridge. i think he's still there.
annnnnyway. communication is a tricky thing sometimes and yesterday was spattered with some of the good kind and some of the bad kind. mixed messages. assumptions. then finally clarification. it is an exhausting thing, this talking about stuff. i'm so glad i'm better at it. studied incompetence was no longer working for me.

hey, bright side....the cards say i have big travel or a move in my future. can anyone say YOUR-UP???
