may be uphill again but guard not down! 5:23 PM

- today is better. i have been mostly vertical all day. i slept 7 hours yesterday and didnt have a bit of trouble falling asleep again last night. i feel sorry for the folks who cant sleep or eat when they are going through a hard time!

- i am eating chocolate cake and drinking milk as we speak!

- there are not one but two birds nests on my back porch. the momma birds fly in through my dog door to feed their constantly chirping young.
- which leads me to a story...

in my previous abode, a momma bird built her nest in a bush right outside our bedroom window. she of course, had no idea that she would be the star of her very own peep show as we always kept those front curtains closed to keep ourselves from being stars of our very own neighborhood peepshow.

but once this nest was discovered by moi, i couldn't help but to peek and watch her progress. i got arden to come watch, i got my children to come see over the course of her time outside our window. she always leered back at us threatened by our presence although we were discreet and careful!

first we could see her sitting, then we saw the two eggs bursting open and we saw her flying away to gather food while her young, ugly and naked chicky bodies and mouths screeching out their needs waited for her return. we saw them develop feathers and start to take on an actual bird look and crawl to the edge of the nest and peer over the edge.

then, i pulled the curtain back one day to see an empty nest. the momma bird was there though looking very distraught. she was fidgety and squawking.at first i thought the birds may have flown away but really in truth, it was too soon.

the following day when leaving the house arden caught a snake moving lethargically slow across our walk way....there were two perfect baby bird sized lumps inside the belly of this snake. the culprit! to this day i think about the distressed look in that momma bird's face and i know she thinks i had something to do with the loss of her babies! it makes me sad.

- eating another piece of cake now!

- raven and i went for a walk. we are so lucky to live in such a wonderful neighborhood!
poor quality treo photo, please forgive.
i need to take my camera out and show you the splendor of my hood!
one day i will.

- i painted my toe nails.

- raven is cleaning her room. thoroughly. like, spring cleaning clean! not sure why because girl can live in a sty! i am not complainin!
