dating again...

normal is good! i like normal and things being back on track also include some good old fashioned sibling rivalry, also my dishing out of information repeatedly until it is absorbed even a tad by young adolescent minds. incessant whining over the burnt mouse (computer mouse..no worries) and ruined falt irons. stained jackets, failure to fold laundry, big debates over the loaning out of ipods... speaking of: raven wanted to borrow my ipod to listen to on the bus this morning. i said no. big argument ensues and much leering at each other as i drive past her at the busstop, i get this text: raven: this is me bored, waiting for the bus. me: this is me listening to my ipod on the way to work. aaah, i love it! right back on track. just a smidgen of teenage angst with only the vague feeling of some sort of nightmare looming at the edge of our consciousness from the last couple of months. this i can handle. no drugs. no skipping. no sneaking out. just good plain and simple mother daughter strife. what a frackin relief! i revel in it! bring it on! so now, i'm making the effort to date my children. quality time. they have good humor, great stories and they are so smart. i really do enjoy their company...i had forgotten! we had a little dinner out last night, a little music, a little a la snuggle up on the sofa....it was delightful. tonight i think we may prepare a tasty dinner at home and head out for a movie; holding hands, sharing popcorn, laughing.... 7 Comments |
