self help 7:54 AM

i pretty much hate the whole "universe, essence, spiritual growth, self help" jargon and yet i'm reading a book allll about "finding my true self". for awhile i was thinking, 'ok, i dont really know if i want to know my true self. my un-true self seems to be doin alright!' but whatever. i'm reading this book with one eye squinting down and my head tilted to the left and i'm considering all the hooplah to be about "psychological growth" rather than "spiritual growth" because that seems to be helping me get through it, what with all my childhood religious abuse (whole nother story entirely) we'll just say bible pages do NOT settle well with me....i think it's the gold leafing.

i wont tell you the name of the book just yet although i am really enjoying it, it's just that i havent finished it yet and there is still every chance that it could take a dramatic turn for the worse! i do not want to be held accountable but i will give you a few details in a nut shell:

the book wants you to identify your personality type so that you can see past it to your true self, i think the goal is not to put you IN a box but to help you see the box your in so that you can get out....eh, something like that.

ok, stay with me!

anyway, it has me so flippin pegged, i cant believe it, and those of you that know me, YOU tell ME! examples below...

-i am considered "the enthusiast"; upbeat and impulsive.

-insatiable desire to fill myself with experiences; pursuing ideas and activities and never feeling i have enough.

-fear of being deprived.

-always anticipating what i am going to do next.

-resist recognizing personal pain and anxiety.

-easily feel burdened by the needs of others.

-thought processes tend to follow the line of " there may be a problem but i'm fine!"

-often feel that "something better is available somewhere else"

well, that's all i've got so far. scares me a little.
