white water 8:00 PM

today we hit the water park. i was still whipped from yesterday and felt like i could use a bit of isolation so the kids ran rampid through the park while i found various shady spots to lay and read; lounge chairs, park benches, picnic tables....i had my way with them. i people watched for awhile and discovered that mostly, in general, people just look better with their clothes ON, AND....it should be illegal to expose hairy man boobs to the world!

i finished reading a tree grows in brooklyn which i have been slugging through for what seems like forever. i have loved this book immensely. it makes me cry and appreciate small things and remember what is important but today i read something that struck me as the defining statement for how i have lived and how i want to continue living my life:

“...let me be something every minute of every hour of my life. Let me be gay; let me be sad. Let me be cold; let me be warm. Let me be hungry...have too much to eat. Let me be ragged or well dressed. Let me be sincere -- be deceitful. Let me be truthful; let me be a liar. Let me be honorable and let me sin. Only let me be something every blessed minute. And when I sleep, let me dream all the time so that not one little piece of living is ever lost.”

betty smith...you goddess, you! this line is breathtaking.

ok, sharing more pictures...
this would be raven obtaining a wedgie...

end of day...ok and for the record they are eating this stuff called "dippin' dots" and it's like astronaut icecream. it is the coolest junk i think i've ever eaten! it is icecream that has been cryogenically encapsulated! no shit!
