el niño is so passé!

i was given a warning. i was warned that mercury is in retrograde! this warning was given with a very stern, watch your ass, sort of look on the giver's face. what? this means what? after a bit-o-research online. i discovered that mercury is a scape goat, fall guy, patsy for all of the astrologicalists (my word-don't try to look it up). the belief is that mercury is the most famous of planets for it's retrograde motion because it represents our communication abilities like writing, speaking, erranding etc...so, while mercury is retrograde, you should not attempt to throw a party or have serious conversations, cut back on errands, expect the check will be in the mail even longer than usual. some folks are certain that mercury screws up computers and television sets as well as all other electrical/mechanical things. i certainly believe that there is some validity in the effect planet alignment can have on our little existences on this place called earth but i also believe that we all need to take on a little damn responsibility for ourselves!! take me, for example: -screw in tire of car last weekend? i'd say, bad luck! -dead modem requiring replacement today? it was old anyway! -chelsea's monitor died. mercury in retrograde? -bloated, moody, bitchy, crabby and accusatory? pms fo sho! -eating half a pan of under cooked brownies? the devil made me do it! -house and car a big sloppy pig-sty mess? definitely mercury!! ok ok ok. it's true! none of these things are MY fault but all the rest of you... you need to have some accountability!! i totally would, if i were to blame for any of these things!
