aging is better than the alternative 11:41 PM

i've never had a problem with my age, aging or the thought of getting older. i've got grays, sure...i'm proud of them actually. the only gray hair that i have ever even pulled from my head was not due to shame for it's color but because it was all wiry and sticking straight UP. it had to go!

the anniversary of the date of my birth is approaching and big deal, so what, who cares...right? i was fine. i wasn't stressed or worried or having any kind of problem with it until the other day while i was chatting with my own mother. she was marveling at my age (as mother's do) but it was bigger than that; it wasn't the typical, "aw, you're just so grown up." or "i just cant believe i have a daughter your age." sure sure, it began like that and i smiled and was all like... "yeh, i know, right?" then she hit me hard. she said "you're gonna be 35...." (that's not the part that hurt) "....that's oooonly 5 years from 40!" (that was it! that was the part.)

wow! 5 years from 40.

things that disappoint me about the whole aging process:

- i am now too old to donate my eggs.
- i am on the verge of being considered a letcher rather than a letchee.
- i cannot ever expect to become a professional athlete, darn!
- my children laugh when i car-dance to songs on the radio.
- daily, i fight the urge to say "when i was your age...".
- i no longer get ID'd when i buy alcohol.
- i am starting to hear "yes maam" alot. (and i'm not just talking about my own children)
- i am becoming a morning person and have lost all ability to sleep in! F@*K!!!

i'm sure there are more but i'll stop there for fear of sounding bitter. because i'm not! bitter that is. i am not bitter....or worried!

the longer i live, the more beautiful life becomes
