strung out

violins are held together entirely by their strings. i know this because raven single handedly broke down her entire violin with what i like to call the domino maneuver. it began innocently enough with a broken string.....and then.....another broken string. my first question is how do you get two broken strings at once? it's just bad physics. that's all i'm sayin. anyway, so raven tried to tighten the two remaining strings (second question here....why?) which then made the bridge lean precariously and as she tried to straighten it up, she snapped it in half. well, then of course the most logical thing for her to do was to remove the now floppy strings from the violin altogether. after removing the strings, the pegs fell out, the tailpiece came off and the saddle followed suit. now, when you pick up her violin case it rattles around as if chuckling at the fact that i will have to pay out a small fortune to have the damn thing reassembled. yes, a small fortune. just the strings alone are twenty five smackeroos plus installation, plus the bridge. i'm taking it today to have it revamped for her performance on MONDAY! this will be her first violin performance and although she fought taking orchestra tooth and nail, she is very excited.
