i know where the word squirrelly comes from.
8:26 PM
i have always had a sign across the front of my car that says "please run out in front of me! it will be fun! i will scream, slam on brakes, swerve all over the road and then in the end my tread mark will look great on your face!" squirrels are really the worst! mainly because they run to the middle of the road and panic. it's like coming face to face with someone in a narrow space and doing a little tango as you try to figure out who will walk on which side. frozen in the middle of the street you can see the wheels in their little heads spinning (slowly, but spinning all the same) to the left? to the right! it cannot decide. now i'm not saying i hit animals all the time, because with a sign on my car like that, i have had to adapt. oh yes in the beginning of my driving career, i took out squirrels, birds, opossum, armadillos, maybe even a cat or two and once a dog even. it's very traumatic. it may seem so but this is not something i take lightly!! i learned with time and experience how to handle the "panicked" animals. i know that, NO they probably will not clear the road before i get there. i have to s t o p! i learned today that i also have this sign on the front of my bicycle. this is altogether a whole new experience. slamming on the brakes traveling rapidly down a large hill is a big NO NO! fishtailing is what i think it's called.... i'll just say here that both the squirrel and i survived but we will never be the same again. scarred, i tell you, scarred!
