dating safety....or not?

i have a friend who just called me from a blind date. now, i am the only one who knows about this and i feel a great burden of responsibility for her safety! i told her i would call before i went to bed to check on her and i decided that we needed to create a code word in case she got kidnapped. at first she thought that was stupid because she figured she wouldnt be able to answer her cell if she was being hijacked. finally i was able to convince her to not take her own well being so lightly! she came up with pineapple. pineapple? that'll be totally awkward to work into a conversation when you are supposed to be trying to act all calm so that your kidnapper doesn't know that you are really sending a secret message to your caller. i asked her how she was gonna explain that one. conversation quotes here: me- "great, pineapple! yeh you can tell him i called to ask what your favorite fruit was. ha! that'll totally work! he'll never suspect a thing."(sense the sarcasm here) her- "i can tell him you are trying to make a pina-colada" me- "oh yeh, oh yeh! that's IT! i'll call and if you are being abducted, you can say 'you forgot the pineapple' and then i'll know that you're in real trouble and need help!" perfect! we said our good byes and have a good times and all the usual hangup small talk. but you know what? i have no idea where she is. if she says that i forgot the pineapple, i'll not have a clue where to look for her or what to tell the cops. that sucks! 1 Comments |
