x-rays 5:49 PM

so remember back when i said chelsea got tackled by her 6 foot friend and was having back pain and headaches? well about a week after going to the doctor, she fell while skating and landed on her shoulder. insult to injury!

she has seen a chiropractor friend of her dad's twice on his own dime because chelsea's pediatrician, we've discovered, will not refer to a chiro because he doesn't "believe in them." believe in them? whatever!

first of all, if i could get him in the car, i'd drive him straight to a real live chiropractor's office just to prove that they really DO exist and then i'd tell him the story of when chelsea was adjusted as a week old baby because she had a bit-o-difficulty on the descending part of birth, she wouldn't turn her head to the right at all! how it couldn't possibly be "psycho-somatic" because she could hardly form a thought more than "move toward the light, move toward the light" and before i left the chiropractic office with my new baby and post-partum depression in tow, i nursed her on my left breast for the first time without her screaming in pain.

well, guess what... it has moved past insult to injury on to salt in the wound because in traffic on the way out of town this weekend with friends, the mini-van chelsea was passenger-ing from the bench seat in the far back was rear-ended! more pain! more headaches!

alrighty, so new calls to the skeptical MD and you all recollect how fun that can be right? this time, i thought i was a wiser woman and started my calling a little bit later. i started at 9am sharp and finally got an answer at 2:12pm. then i was on hold til 2:25pm. i managed to obtain a same day appointment for her at 3:15 which actually got us into a face to face encounter with the nurse-practitioner by 4.

oh my, we are on a roll...straight from drs. office to radiology and we were done there and home by 5:30. toward the end, the speediness was my doing, really! it was the way i sighed heavily and rolled my eyes while sitting in the waiting room! i'm sure that's it. or maybe it was the way i aggressively flipped the pages in the germ coated better homes and garden magazine.

now we wait. we wait to hear from her doctor tomorrow as to whether she has a spinal fracture or not. i feel certain she doesn't but it will be nice to know what her headaches aren't! process of elimination i guess.
