plot?
8:44 AM
i've noticed something about finding meaningful songs and i'm not sure what it signifies for me. i'm certain you can relate when i say that since adolescence, there are songs that seem to have been written FOR you! oh, and you feel it speaks directly to you and nails your situation right between the eyes. is this true? everyone that i have spoken to about this agrees! now, for the real issue at hand...what i have realized is that just when i think this is the case about a song because of a chorus or a stand out line, i listen to the words more closely and wait to be moved in some inexplicable way. wanting, needing the words to talk to me and help me release tears that need to be shed or give me the push to laugh through some unbearable circumstance. instead, what tends to happen for me is the songs are ALWAYS speaking for the other side. what is that? ALWAYS aginst me. i'll need a theme song, something to wail with, something to help me nod my head and say "oh yeh! i'm not the only one who has gone through this!" NO! it does not happen. whose side are all these singer-songwriters on? not mine! 1 Comments |
